The Amazing Benefits of Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime Perks for the Working Mom

What is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is Amazon’s signature membership program that saves members time and money by giving them access to expedited shipping, easy streaming, discounted shopping, and anything else you can think of.

I know what you’re thinking!

Something along the lines of  “how does this help me keep my head above water as a working mom?”.

Am I close?

I get it! On the surface it doesn’t look like it would be life changing, but trust me, it definitely is!

Why else would 100 million people be subscribers?  You don’t have to take our word for it, head here to sign up for your free 30 day Amazon Prime Trial.

Not convinced yet? Let’s go over the benefits.

What are the Benefits of Having Amazon Prime?

There are over 30 different benefits that come with a prime membership. That’s crazy, right? And the funny thing is so many prime members aren’t even aware of them all.

But, I want you to be well informed, so I’ll break down what’s most helpful to you as a busy mom.

Free Shipping

Amazon Prime comes with Free two day shipping. This is by far the most popular benefit and the one you are probably the most familiar with. It’s extremely beneficial and saves you both time and money.

According to Scrape Hero, Amazon sells more than 119 million products across it’s 11 platforms. This means that almost anything you want to buy can be found on Amazon and at your front door in 2 days.

This is definitely a game changer for busy moms everywhere!

Now picture this: It’s Saturday morning and you just remembered that you’ve committed to taking your toddler to a birthday party at 1pm. You were supposed to buy a birthday gift earlier in the week but with your demanding schedule you never got around to it.

With Toys R ‘Us out of business you can’t just run to the store the day of an event and expect to walk out with an amazing gift. But, if you’re a prime member you can order a gift and have it delivered to your home the same day, for free! You can even search for gifts based on gender and age.

How awesome is that? I can’t tell you how many times that has saved me!

The free, same day delivery isn’t available in every city but you can go here and check your zip code for eligibility.

It doesn’t stop here though. The shipping options continue to get better. With your prime membership also comes a feature known as Prime Now. If you’re lucky enough to live in a city where this is offered you’ll get to enjoy free 2 hour delivery. This includes baby essentials, cleaning supplies, and even home improvement items.

Now you can procrastinate as much as you want without having to pay these ridiculously high shipping fees.

Amazon Day

Remember how you used to go shopping and then try to sneak the bags in your house without your husband seeing you? Well let me warn you, it’s going to be hard to hide multiple boxes showing up at your doorstep every other day. You’re going to need a new tactic.

Luckily, your prime membership comes with a feature known as Amazon Day. This will allow you to designate a specific day of the week as your Amazon delivery day. Just try to get home before you husband!

If this isn’t feasible, you can also use Amazon Locker. This is another free service that allows your packages to be delivered to a secure, self-service kiosk 7 days a week. It’s a great way to hide birthday and Christmas gifts and to prevent your packages from being stolen.

Streaming Services

Cable prices have become outrageous these days but the good news is you can still watch your favorite premium channels without it. Amazon offers HBO, Showtime, and Starz at extremely discounted rates.

You can also watch unlimited movies and tv episodes of your favorite show through Prime Video.

I use the Prime app on my phone to allow my toddler access to her favorite show, Little Baby Bum, without the interruption of commercials. And when you use prime video with a tablet like this one, you can download the shows and still watch them when you don’t have WiFi access. This is extremely helpful when waiting in an airport or flying on an airplane.

When you cancel your cable, go ahead and cancel your XM radio subscription too. Replace it with Prime Music, Amazon’s ad free music service with more than two million songs!

I love it because my toddler is obsessed with this CD and I’ve grown to really dislike it. Now we can use Prime Music to listen to instrumentals of lullabies, Disney hits, and nursery rhymes. The best part is that it’s on demand and you have unlimited skips. You can even play music through Alexa and really have fun with your kids!

The immediate advantages of the prime streaming benefit may not be obvious but it ultimately reduces the amount of money you have to spend on cable while also providing a way to keep you and your child entertained.

Clothes shopping, grocery shopping, and running last minute errands just isn’t the same after you become a mother. Everything has to be done based on your baby’s schedule and their mood. Plus, as they get older you’re not able to focus because you’re too busy keeping them from picking up everything that they see.

Don’t worry, Amazon Prime can solve this issue too!

Prime Pantry

You can use Prime Pantry, Amazon’s online store, to shop for groceries, everyday household products, and personal care items just to name a few. The purchases are then shipped to you.  Here’s the thing, you don’t have to order in bulk and they offer coupons and weekly deals just like brick and mortar stores.

As a prime member, your shipping is free on orders over $35. But, you can also choose to just have a Prime Pantry membership instead and have free shipping on orders over $10.

If you need your items a little quicker there’s another option.

Amazon Fresh

You have to be a Prime member in order to utilize Amazon Fresh, a grocery delivery and pickup service. But, the service is not free. You’ll pay an additional $14.99 each month.

The price may seem steep but unlike other grocery delivery services, you can also purchase items from local markets like prepared meals and baked goods. This can definitely be beneficial when the weather is bad or when you’re just plain exhausted and lacking time.

If you don’t want to commit to shipments or deliveries, but know that there are items you repurchase often, try the dash buttons.

Amazon Dash for Prime

You can create a virtual dash button for any item that has prime shipping as an option. Most people choose to use it for laundry products, paper products, or cleaning products. They are free to use and you can have as many as you’d like.

When you notice you’re running low on something, just click your dash button and that item will be on it’s way. How cool is that?

Prime Wardrobe

Going to a store to shop for clothes is a luxury most moms can’t afford. Even if online shopping is your preference, by the time you remember you need a particular outfit you’ll never receive it in time!

Once again Amazon Prime will rescue you. I’ve been able to purchase beautiful quality pieces like this one  and this one and have it delivered to me within two days. No one ever knew that I dropped the ball!

If you have a little more flexibility, try Prime Wardrobe where you and your baby get seven days to try on clothes, shoes, and accessories before deciding if it works for you. You’re only charged for the items that you keep.

The good news is, your 7 days doesn’t start until you actually receive the items. This is great for  buying outfits for work, social gatherings, and special occasions.

Amazon Family

Amazon Family is so valuable for moms with both small and large families. Sign up here and create a profile for your child. Once you’ve done that you’ll have the ability to receive age-based recommendations and get special offers and coupons.

On top of that is the much talked about subscribe and save feature. You’ll receive a 20% off discount on things like diapers, pullups, and  laundry detergent. It’s great because you don’t have to think about it. You set your interval and know that the pampers will arrive like clock work without you having to think about it.

That’s one more thing off of your list!

Photo Storage

How many photos of your baby do you have on your phone?

Let me take a wild guess.

Have you ever had to choose what photo to delete to make room to take another? We’ve all been there at least once. With Amazon Photos you’ll never have that worry again.

You’ll get unlimited photo storage and the ability to search for and organize your photos. Just today I was looking for a photo of my swollen feet that was taken right after my daughter was born. It would have taken me a long time to find it on my phone. But, with Amazon Photo I just simply typed in the month and year and there was my photo.

The security of knowing you won’t lose your precious photos when your phone crashes is just priceless!

Prime Reading

Remember Momma, it’s important to take time for yourself especially when you have kids. If reading is your thing like it is for me, you’ll love Prime Reading.

You’ll be able to download two new books each month for free and you can also borrow books from the Prime Reading catalog. Catch up on your favorite magazine or start reading a new series.

Sometimes it’s hard to find the time to sit down and read. In that case you should give Amazon Audible Audiobooks a try. It’s perfect for your rides to and from work and

Prime Day

I saved the best for last! Amazon Prime day 2019 just ended and the deals were nothing short of spectacular. The discounts during this time period are so much better than what you see during Black Friday. But, you can’t take advantage of these deals unless you’re a member of Amazon Prime.

Amazon Prime can save busy, working moms both time and money by offering free two day shipping, access to convenient streaming services for the entire family, shopping discounts and expedited grocery delivery, the ability to subscribe and save, a never ending photo storage location, the ability to read on the go, and finally access to a full day of extreme savings on anything a person can think of!
