Finding Books for Toddlers
“No, no, no!” I thought watching in horror as my daughter’s chubby little fingers wrapped around the big, blue book. The same book, now tattered on the edges, she’d picked for the last 8 nights straight! I could see the words coming off of the page before she’d even open the book. Dread was instantly washing over me.
Please tell me you can relate? Seriously, how do you read the same book night after night and still enjoy story time?
Imagine what it would be like to receive multiple new books monthly, that were inexpensive, and enjoyable for you and your toddler?
Get this, there’s a company that does just that. They provide a monthly toddler book subscription!
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read a fellow mom talking about it in a facebook group.
I tried it out and now I’m going to share my review of the Lillypost Subscription Box so you can get new books for your toddler too!

Lillypost Review:
What is Lillypost?
I’m all about convenience and cost savings and Lillypost, a book subscription service, meets both criteria.
I know what you’re thinking…..
Not another subscription box! But, this one is actually good. Trust me, I wouldn’t spend my money on it if it wasn’t!
The creators of Lillypost understand that reading is fundamental for development and that it starts the road to literacy.
What makes Lillypost stand out is that they have books for babies as young as newborns and children as old as the age of 7.
Depending on your child(ren)’s age, you can choose between 4 board books, 3 picture books, or a mix of both.
That means you can buy one box and have books suitable for all of your children and their different reading levels. And the best part, the books are yours to keep! Now you’ll never run out of relevant toddler books.
Do I really need another subscription box?
You absolutely need this! This company is dedicated to the growth and development of all children.
For every board book box that is purchased, they have committed to donating a book to a child in need. So far, they have donated over 20,000 books!
This alone was enough to make me subscribe but it gets even better.
One of my complaints about buying books was the cost. I have gone into Barnes and Nobles and spent over $30 for 3 books. For me, that’s a lot of money.
Each Lillypost subscription box has an average retail value of $25-$50, while you only spend less than $20. This saves you up to 50% off of actual retail prices.
Think about it.
That’s a game changer!
What kind of books do you get?
Our first box came with 4 board books: Sorry, Yum, My Book of Counting, and Hedgehugs. My daughter loves them.
The Sorry book was right one time. My daughter is at a stage now where she’ll act out when she doesn’t get her way. We’ve been acknowledging when she’s misbehaving and having her say sorry when she’s not being nice.
The book just helped to reinforce what we are already teaching at home. I’m not that surprised though, because the books are chosen by actual parents. For this reason, I’m certain that we will always love the books that we receive.
What’s this going to cost me?
You have the option of paying month to month for $19.95 a box or choosing a subscription plan.
I definitely recommend the subscription plan because it saves you money and you can cancel your Lillypost subscription at anytime (but you won’t want to).
You can choose a 3 month, 6 month, or a 12 month subscription. The longer the subscription commitment, the less you spend.
The 12 month subscription will only cost you $15.95 a month.
Where else are you going to spend under $20 for 4 brand new children’s books? I’ll tell you, no where!
Lillypost Past Boxes
We have been doing Lillypost for a while now. My daughter’s library has expanded and so has her vocabulary. Thanks to the Lillypost subscription, story time is fun for the both of us and it has only intensified our bond.
Here is a look at some of the books we have received in past boxes:
Cons
The one drawback to Lillypost is that you do have to pay for shipping. Shipping is an additional $4.95 per month. Even with this, your total cost is still under what you’d pay in a bookstore.
At this time, the Lillypost monthly book boxes are only available in the United States and Canada. As they grow, I’m sure they will expand to other countries too.
Benefits of a Toddler Book Subscription
We’ve all heard the benefits of reading to our children. Not only does it increase bonding between a parent and child, but it also leads to stronger comprehension, an expanded vocabulary, and language development.
I started reading to my daughter back when I was pregnant. Knowing the doors that reading has opened for me and the places it has allowed me to go motivated me to plant that seed as early as possible.
I wanted to give her a head start in her education and help to cultivate her imagination and ability to empathize.
You can only do so much as a working mom, but books can cover a variety of topics while teaching our kids in the process.
I’m amazed at the new words my daughter has learned through reading and her ability to sit through several books.
Bilangual Kid Spot found that regularly reading to your toddler will teach them to concentrate and sit still for longer periods of time. Of course this will be very helpful later when they start school.
I have witnessed this first hand as we’ve been reading our Lillypost books.
Why You Need a Lillypost Subscription
Hands down, Lillypost is the place to go for the best books for toddlers. You can’t beat the price or the convenience. Plus, you can start showing your toddler how fun reading can be.
Being a working mom often leaves you feeling tired and overwhelmed. Sometimes that means we even skip doing things like reading to our children. With the Lillypost subscription, the books are in your face. You can’t help but to read them because your child will get excited seeing the box at the front door.

Right now they are only available in the U.S. and Canada. I’m sorry.
